Common questions
Do I have to stay with my employer to keep my home?
Eligibility requirements vary by community. Some homes may be reserved for employees of the participating organization, so a change in employment could affect future eligibility. Your community team will explain the specific requirements before you sign a lease.
Can I live here with my family?
Yes. Upward communities are designed for individuals, couples, and families, with a range of home sizes and floor plans.
Are pets allowed?
Yes, Upward communities are pet-friendly.
Who handles maintenance?
Your community management team handles routine maintenance and resident service requests, similar to a professionally managed apartment community.
My employer isn’t an Upward partner yet. What can I do?
Tell your HR team, district leadership, or local administration about Upward. You can also contact us directly, and our team can share information with your employer.
Who is eligible to live in an Upward community?
Participating employers establish eligibility guidelines for their communities. Depending on the partnership, eligible residents may include teachers, administrators, support staff, first responders, municipal employees, and other local employees.
How are rents determined?
Upward works with participating employers to create rental options designed around local employee incomes and housing costs. Exact rents vary by community, home size, and floor plan.
Do I have to buy the home?
No. Upward homes are rentals, so you can enjoy a newly built home without a down payment or mortgage.
How do I apply?
When leasing opens, eligible employees can submit an application through the community website. Availability, qualification requirements, and timing will be provided for each community.
When can I move in?
Move-in dates vary by community. Visit our Communities page to see what is open, under construction, or coming soon.
Know someone who should see this?

Most partnerships start with an employee forwarding this to their HR office or district administration.
